Value Streams Identification

For the value creation flow to work as a well-tuned machine, a special workshop is held to determine which functions, units, information systems, and critical people should be brought together to focus on the integrated development of all aspects.

The Agile approach suggests forming independent units around such Value Streams (they are called Streams, Tribes, Clusters, etc., depending on the scaling framework). It takes a compelling common goal that crosses the boundaries of the functional silos (BA, Marketing, QA, etc.) for the employees to create breakthrough solutions collaboratively.

To identify cross-functional groups with all competencies and authority to build the product or service, it is crucial to make an excessive picture of which people and systems are involved and are supporting what creates value for the organization.
