ICAgile Is Now ICA: What the Change Means for Your Certification and Training

On 28 September 2026, ICAgile became the International Certification Alliance, or ICA.

The new name reflects a broader direction for the certification body: agile remains an important foundation, while ICA expands its learning ecosystem to cover more of the practical skills professionals need in a changing world of work.
For current certificate holders and participants in AgileLAB courses, the most important message is simple: existing ICAgile certifications remain valid, accredited courses continue, and the change does not require you to repeat your training.

Here is what has changed, what remains the same, and what the transition from ICAgile to ICA means in practice.
What changed when ICAgile became ICA?
The most visible changes are the organisation’s name, visual identity and public website.

ICAgile is now the International Certification Alliance. The abbreviation ICA replaces the ICAgile name across new communications, certification materials and digital services. The organisation’s new public website is ica-certified.com.

However, this is more than a visual rebrand. ICA describes the transition as an expansion of its certification ecosystem. The organisation is building a broader portfolio of certifications and credentials, introducing more modular learning pathways and creating space for skills beyond its traditional agile portfolio.

ICA remains an independent accreditation and certification body. It continues to define learning outcomes, accredit training programmes, authorise instructors and issue credentials to people who successfully complete accredited learning experiences.
Why did ICAgile change its name?

ICAgile was founded in 2010 with a clear focus: improving the quality of agile education by shifting attention away from individual frameworks and towards practical capabilities and an agile mindset.
That work continues. But the professional environment has changed.
People and organisations now need to combine agility with a wider range of capabilities: working with AI, leading through uncertainty, collaborating across organisational boundaries, making sense of complex systems and continuously adapting how value is created.

The name International Certification Alliance gives the organisation room to support this broader skills landscape without abandoning its agile foundation.

According to the official announcement, the new certifications, credentials and skill areas build on ICAgile’s existing portfolio rather than replacing it. Agility remains foundational to ICA’s approach.
What remains the same after the ICAgile rebrand?
Several important parts of the certification system continue without interruption:
  • Existing ICAgile certifications remain valid and recognised.
  • Existing accredited courses remain accredited.
  • Current instructor authorisations remain valid.
  • Member Organisation relationships continue.
  • ICA maintains an outcome-based approach to course accreditation.
  • Credentials and certifications do not require annual renewal fees.

AgileLAB continues to provide accredited certification training. The transition to ICA does not invalidate the learning outcomes, accreditation or certificates connected with existing AgileLAB courses.

You may temporarily encounter both names while websites, course pages, badges and other materials are updated. References such as ICA, ICAgile and ICA, formerly ICAgile may therefore appear alongside one another during the transition.
Is my ICAgile certification still valid?
Yes. ICA confirms that existing ICAgile certifications remain fully valid, recognised and verifiable following the transition to the International Certification Alliance.

When adding an existing certification to your CV, use the qualification name shown on your certificate—for example, ICP, ICP-ACC or ICP-ATF.

ICA’s current LinkedIn instructions advise certificate holders to enter the certification name exactly as it appears on the certificate and select ICAgile or ICA as the issuing organisation. They also recommend adding the issue date, credential ID and public credential URL where available.

Existing certifications do not expire. ICA does not charge renewal fees or require continuing education credits to keep an earned certification active.

What happens to an AgileLAB course you have already booked?
The transition from ICAgile to ICA does not require you to register for your AgileLAB course again.
Your booking confirmation remains the source of truth for the course date, language, delivery format and payment arrangement. This also applies if your place is being funded through a Bildungsgutschein, KOMPASS or another approved programme.

Existing accredited courses continue to be accredited. The learning experience, assessment and certification process therefore continue under the applicable accredited programme.
After successfully completing the course and any required post-class steps, eligible participants receive their personal certificate or credential through the ICA account system.

How do I access my ICA or ICAgile account?
The Sign In button on ica-certified.com currently leads to the existing member account system at member.icagile.com.
Use the email address and password associated with your existing account. After signing in, you can access your profile, outstanding post-class actions and previously issued credentials.

If you have forgotten your password, use the password reset option before creating another account. Creating a second profile can result in your credentials being divided between multiple accounts.

If you have completed an AgileLAB course but have not received the expected account or certification email, first check which email address you used when registering. ICA advises allowing up to ten business days after completing the course for a new account and credential process to be initiated.

For help with your AgileLAB booking or course record, contact us at [email protected]. For changes to personal account information, password problems or duplicate ICA accounts, follow the instructions in the official ICA account FAQ.

What is new under the International Certification Alliance?
ICA is expanding the structure around its certifications and credentials.

The organisation describes five research-backed disciplines intended to help professionals become “Tomorrow-Ready”. Its evolving model combines broader certifications with individual credentials and specialised options, allowing learners to build a more flexible development pathway.

ICA has also introduced SkillPrint™, which is designed to present a living picture of the credentials, strengths and capabilities a learner develops over time.

For Member Organisations, ICA is creating additional ways to develop programmes and collaborate on recognised certifications. This includes the Certification Lab, a pathway through which Member Organisations can develop custom certifications that meet ICA requirements.

These developments expand the learning ecosystem without replacing the agile certifications that learners and employers already recognise.
Your existing ICAgile certification remains valid, and AgileLAB’s accredited courses continue as before. Explore our accredited certification courses or contact us if you have questions about your certificate or an upcoming course.
